Radio Erena, an independent Tigrinya-language station that broadcasts via satellite to Eritrea, first went on air on June 15, 2009, in Paris, coinciding with World Refugee Day. Created by Eritrean journalists based abroad and with support from Reporters Without Borders, the station is dedicated to providing objective news and information to the Eritrean population.

The Erena Radio App offers a user-friendly experience and includes the following features:

 Access to various audio streams, allowing listeners to enjoy live broadcasts or listen to recorded shows (podcasts). These podcasts can be listened online or offline after downloading, without consuming any data.

<li> 
 Inclusion in the Erena Radio community, granting users access to the broadcaster's online networks. This includes integration with Facebook and the ability to view the broadcaster's latest posts. Additionally, users can easily access Twitter, the broadcaster's website, Instagram, and more.
 </li>

<li> 
 Interactive media capabilities, such as the Radio Reporter feature. This allows users to submit pictures, audio messages, text, and video directly from their phones to the broadcaster. Users will also receive notifications about the latest news, programs, contests, and sports competition results directly from the broadcaster. Additionally, users can participate in flash polls to voice their opinions on various topics.
